Senior Highway Maintenance Worker

The Sacramento County, CA is seeking a skilled Senior Highway Maintenance Worker to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing skilled repair and maintenance work related to highway projects on roadways, roadside appurtenances, storm drainage systems, and landscapes. You will also operate vehicles requiring a Class A license and various kinds of motorized repair and maintenance equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform skilled repair and maintenance work on highway projects, including roadways, roadside appurtenances, storm drainage systems, and landscapes.
* Operate vehicles requiring a Class A license and various kinds of motorized repair and maintenance equipment.
* Act as leadworker of an assigned crew, providing on-the-job training and direct supervision.
Requirements
* One year of full-time, paid experience employed by the County of Sacramento in the class of Highway Maintenance Worker, or two years of full-time, paid experience operating repair and maintenance vehicles and equipment in support of highway, airfield, or construction maintenance and repair activities.
* Possession of a valid California Driver License, Class B or higher, and a Class A, California Driver License and a Tank Vehicle Endorsement issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles within 90 days of appointment.
Working Conditions
* Work outside in all types of climatic conditions, including inclement and very hot weather.
* Work around dust, dirt, noise, contaminated and non-contaminated water, chemicals, machinery and equipment with moving parts, moving repair and maintenance vehicles, traffic, fumes and/or odors.
