Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Nursing Unit Supervisor to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care and managing healthcare operations.

About the Role
  • This is a full-time position, working 36 hours per week with rotating shifts.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a nursing unit, ensuring that patients receive excellent care and that staff members are equipped to provide this care.
  • You will work closely with senior leadership and other departments to achieve departmental and hospital objectives.
  • Your expertise in process improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes will be essential in driving results.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate processes related to performance improvement, staffing effectiveness, fiscal management, staff competence, and customer service outcomes within designated units/services.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and subordinate staff to develop and monitor budget for designated single or multiple, closely-related fields, areas or processes.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise processes, including policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Provide input into the development and revision of departmental organizational design and/or monitor the quality and quantity of overall workflow.
  • Initiate or recommend personnel actions such as hires, fires, and disciplines for area(s) assigned.
  • Complete performance appraisals and develop and assess performance of daily, monthly, and/or yearly goals and measures for assigned area(s).
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
  • Three years of progressive nursing experience, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is around $$104,000 - $130,000, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, employee assistance programs, life insurance, and a discount program.
