Job Summary:

PacifiCorp seeks a highly skilled Data Science Leader to provide technical leadership on complex engineering projects related to wildfire mitigation. This role requires expertise in data science, machine learning, and spatial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research studies and technical analyses to support company objectives, including wildfire risk modeling and electric service reliability analysis
  • Work with engineering, operations, and regulatory teams to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
  • Lead data science projects and processes over the life cycle of the project
  • Provide technical expertise across business teams in the area of data science
  • Serve as the company expert in data science and provide authoritative consultation and recommendations to senior management

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Math, or Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in a power/utility/energy industry or related profession, including experience performing highly technical work of a specialized nature
  • Over 3+ years of experience working with Python (or related language) and associated libraries for machine learning
  • Ability to construct and optimize SQL queries (1+ years' experience)
  • Exceptional technical writing skills
  • Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way through visualizations
  • Demonstrated leadership and/or project management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation
  • MS or PhD in quantitative fields
  • Experience working in the utilities, risk management, or wildfire mitigation sector
  • Experience with wildfire science or wildfire-related analytics use cases
  • Experience using ESRI toolsets, including ArcGIS Pro and QGIS

Estimated Salary Range: $115,900 - $136,300 per year
