The Property Management Accountant plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of real estate transactions, ensuring accurate and transparent financial records. This position involves collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and auditors to maintain compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting: Regularly provides status of financial condition of the various real estate properties and associated legal entities by preparing special reports and supporting financial reviews with banks and outside accountants.
  • Accounting Controls: Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures, and complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements.
  • Financial Analysis: Provides review and analysis of General Ledger accounts, and posts and audits month-end and year-end journal entries, including year-end allocations from properties to legal entity level.
  • Tenant Billing: Prepares tenant billings, and posts cash receipts.
  • Accounts Payable: Monitors accounts payable invoices, disbursements, and 1099 processes.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Provides back-up support to Property Manager in responding to tenant issues and questions.
  • Provides back-up to accounting team with financial analysis and projects.
  • Maintains current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with internal and external parties to achieve the goals of the company.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in producing financial statements, recording general ledger transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and 1099's.
  • Intermediate Excel skills and experience.
  • Must have strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, management, and communication skills.
  • Time Management - ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
