Job Overview:
Boston Medical Center is seeking a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to join our administrative team. As a key member of our operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our billing processes.

The ideal candidate will have experience with electronic medical records, Microsoft Office, and strong organizational skills. A solid understanding of medical terminology, codes, and abbreviations is essential for this position.

We offer a competitive salary of $62,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you can expect to earn an average annual bonus of $5,000 based on individual performance and overall business success.

Job Description:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Entering technical and professional charges electronically;
  • Assuring the accuracy of diagnoses and procedure codes;
  • Obtaining clarification on patient notes and charts when necessary;
  • Preparing claims documents required by each insurer;
  • Performing charge follow-up and managing collections activities.
As a Medical Billing Specialist at Boston Medical Center, you will work closely with our healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement for services rendered. You will be responsible for stocking supplies, assisting with ordering, and performing other duties as requested.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:
  • Experience with electronic medical records (Athena and Meditech a plus);
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook;
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, codes, and abbreviations;
  • Strong organizing and prioritizing skills.
A high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Biller are required. A Billing and Coding certificate is preferred.
