We are seeking a skilled EEG Technician to join our team at Sutter Bay Hospitals.
Job Summary:
The EEG Technician will perform basic and complex EEG recordings in accordance with physician orders and under minimum supervision. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical electronics, as well as the ability to distinguish abnormalities on EEG recordings.
Responsibilities:
- Perform EEG recordings on patients of all ages, including pediatric patients
- Monitor and report significant patient abnormalities observed or in diagnostic data
- Obtain standard and special procedure EEG recordings
- Adapt recordings based on patient medical history and observations
- Provide orientation and training to new staff members
Requirements:
- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent education/experience in a related field
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum six months experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on adults
- Minimum one year experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on neonates
Preferred Experience:
Minimum six months experience performing EEG procedures in an acute care setting on adults
Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of human anatomy with emphasis on neuroanatomy
- Understanding of basic related pharmacology, especially anti-epileptic and anesthetic medications
- Ability to operate digital electroencephalographic and evoked potential equipment
- Good understanding of computers
Work Environment:
Varied schedule, including days, evenings, and weekends
