Job Title: Academic Advisor

At the University of West Georgia, we are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students.

Job Summary

The Academic Advisor will provide academic advising to specified student populations in undergraduate programs. This includes assisting with Academic Advising for new and transfer students at orientations, maintaining detailed records of appointments, and referring students to appropriate campus resources.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality academic advising services to assigned students via face-to-face, virtual, telephone, and email.
  • Provide resource referrals to at-risk students and assist students in major exploration and with referrals for career counseling.
  • Serve as liaison to academic departments as assigned and use Banner, EAB Navigate, Google, Wolf Watch, and other systems to schedule appointments, maintain records, and monitor academic progress of assigned students.
  • Develop and deliver professional presentations, publications, and training to the UWG community to enhance academic advising on this campus and the larger academic advising community regionally and nationally.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Preferred one (1) year of experience in higher education, in advising, or related areas such as student academic support, housing, or other area of student affairs.
