Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Employment Law Counsel to conduct investigations of employee complaints alleging violations of employment and labor laws.

About the Role

This position will be primarily responsible for conducting thorough and objective investigations, providing employment law advice to internal clients, and working on Company and Law Department projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of US Federal and State/local employment laws, excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, and the ability to apply them to a wide range of business settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct prompt, thorough, and objective investigations of employee complaints, including interviewing relevant parties, reviewing documents, analyzing employee data, and preparing oral and written reports.
  • Counsel assigned clients on employment law issues that arise in day-to-day management, provide proactive guidance to ensure compliance with various laws and regulations, and partner with Human Resources to maintain appropriate employment policies.
  • Assist with the employment and labor legal alerts process and conduct special projects as needed.
Requirements
  • J.D. degree and at least 5 years' experience performing employment law investigations and advising on employment & labor law issues.
  • Demonstrated strong working knowledge of US Federal and State/local employment laws, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to travel on an as-needed basis for investigations.
