NMSU Global Campus is seeking an Academic Compliance Specialist to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for licensure, distance education, and online learning. The successful candidate will research, document, and communicate regulatory requirements for NMSU, working closely with internal and external organizations to ensure compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Research and interpret state and national laws and regulations relating to professional licensure and state authorization for existing and potential programs.
• Make determinations on whether NMSU academic programs meet professional licensure and state authorization requirements.
• Work with multiple university systems and teams to discuss professional licensure and state authorization requirements and troubleshoot any issues.
• Regularly maintain and publish institutional information and policies related to licensure and state authorization.
• Organize and maintain research documentation and procedures related to professional licensure and state authorization.
• Prepare documentation and monitor NMSU's participation in organizations like the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA) to ensure the university is compliant.
• Coordinate with admissions and departments on incoming and currently enrolled students from states with authorization requirements.
• Monitor data on NMSU programs and student locations to ensure compliance. Collects student data on out-of-state learning experiences.
• Serves as NMSU's representative on committees and organizations related to licensure and state authorization.
• Ensures NMSU programs are in compliance with Military and International regulations.
• Educates university stakeholders regarding professional licensure, state authorization, and other regulations.
• Assists in responding to student inquiries related to professional licensure and state authorization.
• Prepares reports for internal and external audiences.
• Supports other Institutional Effectiveness projects related to accreditation, assessment, and data compliance.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Three (3) years of experience related to the standard duties as outlined.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience as approved by Human Resource Services.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to research, interpret, analyze, and draw conclusions from regulations and policies.
• Ability to work independently and make judgments/decisions.
• Ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge.
• Ability to identify and solve problems.
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships and networks.
• Ability to work with people at all levels of an organization.
• Ability to communicate diplomatically and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to create reports and presentations.
• Ability to organize and maintain research.
Preferred Requirements:
• Master's degree in educational administration, public administration, or a related field.
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Experience working in a higher education environment.
• Familiarity with academic program requirements.
• Experience with compliance, grant writing/administration, educational policy, academic administration, research, or a related field.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
