Job Title: Truck Upfitter

HP Fairfield, a member of Alamo Group Inc., is seeking a skilled Truck Upfitter to join its team in Skowhegan, ME.

Job Summary:

The Truck Upfitter will be responsible for mounting tilt fronts, dump bodies, hydraulic hoses, and tanks according to specifications and blueprints, using appropriate drills, welders, torches, band saws, and other tools as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit components together
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position
  • Set up equipment and weld parts for mounting tilt fronts, dump bodies, etc.
  • Perform one of the three primary functions: welding, electrical, or hydraulics
  • Assist with installation of equipment in truck cabs as necessary
Requirements:
  • Basic welding and fabricating skills
  • Experience with torches, electric drills, reamers, and band saws
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, assembly diagrams, or schematics
  • Ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and series of numbers
  • Ability to perform the four arithmetic operations with like, common, and decimal fractions
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
Working Conditions:

This job has a medium physical work strength rating, requiring frequent balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling, fingering, feeling, talking, depth perception, and use of field of vision. Steel toe boots and personal protective equipment are required.
