Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Pay Rate: $35- $40/hr

Duration: 12 Weeks

Shift: Night, M-F, 10 pm-8:30 am

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at eTeam. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests and analyzing specimens to ensure accurate and reliable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  2. Maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  3. Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
  4. Review and release test results.
  5. Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
  6. Adhere to laboratory quality control policies and document all quality control activities.
  7. Identify and correct problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results.
  8. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from laboratory performance specifications.
  9. Report STATS or Critical results to clients.
  10. Answer questions from customers or other lab personnel.
  11. Maintain complete records of all testing performed on-site.
  12. Maintain the general appearance of the department.
  13. Review and train on new procedures.
  14. Attend monthly department and additional training/educational meetings.
  15. Participate in safety training sessions and know the location and contents of the safety manual.
  16. Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections.
  17. Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing is required.
  • Good computer skills and ability to adapt to working in multiple computer systems.
  • Knowledge of QC and QA, as well as all areas of the laboratory.

Education:

  • BS in Medical Technology preferred.
  • BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493. 1433 published in March 14, 1990.

Work Experience:

  • 1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously.
  • Interact with other departments.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
