We are seeking a talented Precision CNC Operator to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Confirm that the shop tag corresponds to the job scheduled on the machine.
  • Ensure that the print part number and revision level align with the shop tag.
  • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of stock to verify that it meets the job requirements and that prior operations have not compromised quality.
  • Check the quantity to be manufactured and the number of parts or amount of stock available.
  • If applicable, confirm that the serialization sheet matches the serial numbers on the accompanying documents.
  • Collect tool holders and designated tooling as specified in the setup sheets, ensuring that the inventory matches the computer records.
  • Gather vises or fixtures required for stabilizing parts as per the setup sheet.
  • Load material into the machine and establish the work origin according to the setup sheet.
  • Ensure that holders are clean and free from burrs or chips.
  • Report any damaged or broken holders to your supervisor.
  • Load tooling into the machine as outlined in the setup sheet.
  • Set tool length offsets in accordance with the setup sheet.
  • Retrieve the program from the server or USB stick based on the machine being utilized, following the guidance provided in the setup sheets.
  • Verify that all measuring tools are functioning correctly and provide accurate readings.
  • Execute the program, treating the first part as if it were the initial run, and monitor distance to go, tool diameter, and acceptable rapid and feed rates.
  • Inspect features as they are completed to ensure compliance with specifications. If issues arise, halt production and consult management.
  • Upon completion of the part, break sharp edges and clean as necessary.
  • Complete the relevant in-process inspection report.
  • If uncertain about customer expectations, consult management or refer to the supplier requirements manual.
  • Notify inspection upon completion of the first piece and ensure all necessary paperwork is filled out for the in-process inspection report.
  • Attach a rejection tag to any parts that do not meet inspection standards, providing details about the discrepancies.
  • If a part fails the first piece inspection, revert to the previous step, and seek management’s guidance if needed.
  • Once a part is approved by inspection, proceed to manufacture parts according to the setup sheet, program, and print specifications.
  • For production runs of 10 or more, check a minimum of every 5th part.
  • If any part is found to be out of specification during production, all preceding parts up to the last accepted one will be inspected, and a rejection tag will be placed on non-conforming parts.
  • After completing the parts, place them in the designated area for heat treatment, black oxide, coating, or finish inspection as required.
  • Dismantle any tooling not needed for the next job and return it to the programmer.
  • Ensure that the machine and work area are clean and organized before concluding your shift.
