Job Title: Data Protection Engineer II

At Altafiber, we are seeking a highly skilled Data Protection Engineer II to join our team. This role will be responsible for providing expert data backup administration, executing procedures for break/fix repair, handling change requests, and scheduling maintenance. Additionally, you will assist in the implementation and support of data backup systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data Backup Administration: Manage data backup resources for optimal performance, conducting ongoing reviews of the existing backup architecture, policies, scalability, and operational considerations, as well as current usage of backup technologies.
  • Backup-Related Projects: Lead and participate in backup-related projects, ensuring timely completion and effective implementation.
  • Customer Support: Resolve escalated customer issues, providing assistance with customer inquiries, understanding client-side operations, and offering client configuration and support.
  • Capacity and Growth Planning: Prepare capacity and growth plans to ensure the data backup system meets the evolving needs of the organization.
Requirements:
  • Education: Four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Certifications and Experience: 3-6 years of experience in data protection and backup administration, with a strong understanding of Avamar, backup and recovery technologies, and ITIL process tools.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent communication skills, customer-focused interpersonal skills, and hands-on experience with SNMP monitoring tools, SAN storage, and data domain experience.
Work Environment:

The work is primarily performed in an office or remote environment, requiring a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
