Lead Barista

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Barista to join our team at Barnes & Noble. As a key member of our cafe team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, coaching and developing our baristas, and driving sales growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model excellent customer service and provide training to baristas on how to deliver first-class service.
- Ensure a welcoming and vibrant cafe environment, including a stocked bake case and neatly displayed merchandise.
- Understand customer needs and provide recommendations to improve cafe operations and deliver great service.
- Support positive sales results through efficient ordering and understanding of cafe operations and P&L.
- Coach and provide feedback to baristas, in partnership with the cafe manager, to identify areas of growth and improve service.
- Solve problems efficiently and correctly, while being a support to others, and help remove obstacles.
- Engage customers in the store by optimizing cafe sales initiatives, such as sampling and register promotions.
- Assist with visual merchandising standards and ensure correct execution of all operational standards, in a timely manner and in accordance with cafe standards, safety, and health codes.
- Protect company assets by ensuring accurate execution of all loss prevention procedures.
- Communicate collaboratively with the store team, upholding the values of the company through fair and consistent feedback and respectful accountability.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a senior barista or barista role, with a proven track record of delivering excellent customer service and driving sales growth.
- Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize workload, delegate tasks, and work through others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with the store team.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing work environment, with a positive attitude and a can-do approach.
- Previous experience in training employees and providing feedback, with a focus on developing and growing team members.
