Job Summary

The Medical Support Assistant is a vital member of the healthcare team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. This role requires strong communication and organizational skills to provide exceptional patient care and support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Answer and respond to incoming telephone calls, routing them to the appropriate resource as needed.
  • Determine patient enrollment and eligibility for services, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, including initial and follow-up visits.
  • Provide routine interactions with internal and external customers, demonstrating a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure seamless patient care and services.
Requirements
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • English language proficiency is essential, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
  • At least six months of clerical, office, or customer service experience is preferred, with the ability to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.
Working Conditions

The majority of work is performed in an office setting, with some standing, ambulation, and carrying of items such as training manuals. The position requires strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
