Job Title: Corrections Deputy I-III

We are currently accepting applications for a Corrections Deputy with the Tooele County Sheriff's Office. As a key member of our team, you will maintain the security of our detention facility and ensure prisoner welfare.

About the Role
  • Corrections Deputy I: $25.47 per hour (must meet minimum qualifications)
  • Corrections Deputy II: $26.75 per hour (requires 2+ years of sworn corrections/law enforcement experience)
  • Corrections Deputy III: $32.36 per hour (minimum 5 years of full-time sworn corrections/law enforcement experience or bachelor's degree)

In this role, you will be responsible for upholding order and ensuring prisoner welfare while maintaining the security of the Tooele County Detention Facility. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and meet specific qualifications for each level. A physical fitness test is required for all applicants, except POST certified individuals who will not need to take the test.

Minimum Qualifications

Corrections Deputy I:

  • Graduation from high school or GED; 2 years of responsible work experience
  • Able to be qualified in the use of firearms
  • Pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug testing, and psychological evaluation
  • 19 years old at time of hire
  • Citizen of the United States; resident of the State of Utah
  • Valid Utah Driver's License; No disqualifying criminal history; No DUI convictions in the past two years

Corrections Deputy II and III:

  • Meet minimum qualifications for Corrections Deputy I
