In this role as a Retail Property Underwriting Specialist, you will be part of our dynamic underwriting team, helping customers manage risk and find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwrite a specific line of business within Retail Property, ensuring that all underwriting files and services standards and compliance guidelines are adhered to on assigned accounts.
  • Evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten, identifying risk exposures, special or common hazards, claims experience and appropriate controls.
  • Analyze claims and quantify losses, adhering to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks.
  • Offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer.
  • Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts, demonstrating technical expertise with product(s) in the Financial Lines portfolio.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills, and critical thinking skills, leading to confident decision making and judgment.
  • Demonstrate success in negotiation and building collaborative relationships, multi-tasking, prioritizing and time management skills.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of relevant professional experience in commercial insurance, preferably in a company, agency or brokerage.
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
  • Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience, with a working knowledge of Retail Property products.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment.
  • Comfort with financial statements, analytical tools and technology.

What We Offer

AIG offers a competitive salary, with the estimated base salary range for this position being $60,000-$70,000 in Los Angeles, California. Additionally, the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
