Job Title: Juvenile Detention Officer

At Kitsap County, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Juvenile Detention Officer to join our team. As a Juvenile Detention Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of youth in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for youth in our detention facility
  • Provide supportive guidance and encouragement to youth, promoting positive behavior and social skills
  • Assist in the development of individualized plans to address the needs of each youth
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a comprehensive and effective approach to youth rehabilitation
  • Participate in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • At least one year of experience working with youth in a therapeutic or social services environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with youth, staff, and community partners
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
