Sudbay Automotive Sales Manager Job Description

Key Responsibilities:
  • Forecast sales, gross, and key expenses on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Hire, train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of new-vehicle sales employees.
  • Prepare and administer an annual operating budget for the new-vehicle sales department.
  • Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations affecting new-vehicle sales.
  • Direct and schedule department employee activities, ensuring proper staffing.
  • Assist salespeople in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and objectives.
  • Maintain an accurate daily log of sales activities.
  • Develop and implement a prospecting and sales control system.
  • Conduct daily and weekly sales meetings.
  • Provide effective communication throughout the new-vehicle department and interdepartmentally.
  • Ensure salespeople understand and follow dealership policies and procedures.
  • Provide product and training resources for salespeople.
  • Oversee efforts to enhance the image and customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership.
  • Work with salespeople on programs to increase new-car gross and F&I penetration.
  • Develop incentive programs with the dealer and other managers.
  • Help salespeople close deals when necessary.
  • Complete deal settlement sheets and turn them into the accounting office.
  • Establish and maintain standards for vehicle delivery to customers.
  • Schedule first service appointments at time of delivery.
  • Provide the dealer with accurate floor traffic control data daily.
  • Process salesperson commission sheets and monitor payroll records.
  • Review inventory daily to ensure the proper mix of grounded stock for maximum turnover efficiency.
Requirements:
  • Recommend new-car inventory to be carried by color, model, and equipment based on customer and market analyses.
  • Assist the used-vehicle department with trade appraisals as needed.
  • Direct merchandising and advertising efforts for the new-vehicle department.
  • Assist in the development of advertising campaigns and other promotions.
  • Maintain a professional appearance.
