Operating Room Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Operating Room Nurse Specialist to join our team at Magnet Medical.
Job Summary:This is a travel nursing opportunity for an experienced RN - Operating Room professional to work in Petoskey, Michigan. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the operating room setting, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:- Preoperative Preparation: Assess patients' medical histories and current conditions to develop individualized preoperative care plans, verifying surgical consent and reviewing medications to prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery.
- Intraoperative Nursing Care: Assist in preparing the operating room environment, ensuring sterile conditions and proper functioning of surgical equipment, collaborating with surgical team members to position patients, monitor vital signs, and assist with anesthesia induction and maintenance.
- Surgical Assistance and Instrumentation: Anticipate surgeons' needs during procedures, passing instruments, sutures, and supplies as required, maintaining sterile technique and adhering to aseptic practices throughout the surgical process.
- Patient Advocacy and Safety: Advocate for patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical experience, addressing concerns and ensuring adherence to surgical protocols, monitoring patients' responses to surgical interventions and intervening promptly as needed.
- Postoperative Care and Monitoring: Transfer patients to post-anesthesia care units (PACUs) or recovery rooms, monitoring their vital signs and postoperative status, assessing surgical incisions, applying dressings, and managing drainage devices while ensuring patient comfort and pain management.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A current RN license and relevant experience in the operating room setting.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and respond to unexpected situations.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and instrumentation, with the ability to maintain sterile technique and adhere to aseptic practices.
- Experience with electronic medical records and other healthcare software systems.
