Job Summary

The Payroll Manager will be accountable for payroll operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant processing. This role will manage multiple payroll specialists, drive process improvement, and oversee day-to-day tasks.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of payroll specialists, including prioritizing tasks, conducting performance reviews, providing training, coaching, and overseeing team development.
  • Act as the functional lead in all applications associated with payroll and tax filings, time and attendance, and other supporting systems.
  • Review timesheets, wage computation, and other information to detect, reconcile, and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, company deductions, and tax withholdings. Prepare statistical reports as needed.
  • Certify all payroll processes follow local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor changes and remain current on legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements, including wage and hour laws, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k), and other benefit deductions.
  • Collaborate with inter-departments to implement system updates and improve efficiency.
  • Manage the month-end financial close process by reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations for payroll-related accounts.
  • Assure payroll journals and allocations are processed to meet deadlines.
  • Define and manage M&A integration plans and execute rapid onboarding of new acquisitions into the payroll system.
  • Oversee responses to requests from internal and external auditors, as well as management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in full responsibility for payroll processing in a multistate midsized company with at least 2500 employees.
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll processes and procedures, including wage and hour laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation, and informal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across departments with varying levels of staff and management to solve problems and achieve results.
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
Estimated Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per yearAbout Benefits
