Datacenter Technician Job Description

At System One Holdings, LLC, we are seeking a highly skilled Datacenter Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in satellite communications and network infrastructure engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure 99.99% system uptime with zero defects in one of the most complex communications networks.
  • Monitor and maintain system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to maximize capacity and efficiency.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance, customer problem tracking, and network problem resolution in all networking aspects.
  • Develop procedural and technical recommendations for improvement and plan the implementation of new products into the production environment.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure compliance with applicable Data Center Standards, Service Management Quality Program, and ITIL standards.


Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as a technician in SATCOM/Terrestrial environment with LAN/WAN industry standards.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet configuration, and functionality desirable.
  • Industry certifications are a plus (Microsoft, Linux, VMware, Cisco, CompTIA, and ITIL).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux systems desirable.
  • Candidates must have the ability to work and manage in a 24x7x365 work environment, multi-task while meeting deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Flexible to work varying shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd, or a mixed) in a high stress environment.
  • Must be able to change priorities quickly and multi-tasking is expected.
  • Basic electronics troubleshooting skills desirable.
  • Candidates must have excellent problem-solving, customer relations, conflict resolution, and written and oral communication skills.


Essential Qualifications:
Candidate must be able to do the following with or without reasonable accommodation:
oClimb ladders to heights of up to 20 feet.
oWork with hands and arms above their head for an extended period of time.
oCarry equipment up to 50 pounds.
oBe able to work repetitive tasks like installing/deinstalling cables/equipment.
oHave the dexterity to terminate various types of cabling (i.e. CAT6/6A, coaxial cable, fiber cable) with precision.
oWork in a 24x7x365 work environment
