Job Summary:

The Senior Construction Manager will oversee the planning, direction, coordination, and budgeting of multiple complex projects, typically through subordinate supervisory personnel. This role is responsible for the construction and maintenance of industrial projects, participating in the conceptual development of construction projects, and overseeing their organization, scheduling, and implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization, scheduling, and implementation of construction projects
  • Direct and supervise the work of the Assistant Construction Manager
  • Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction sites
  • Assure proper administration of all project payments
  • Direct and supervise the work of colleagues on the construction sites
  • Conduct project progress meetings on a weekly basis
  • Studies job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods
  • Implements and maintains quality control programs
  • Communicates with inspectors regarding proper interpretation of specifications
  • Communicates with engineers regarding intent of plans or specifications
  • Responds to client suggestions and complaints on a timely basis and ensures resolution of such suggestions and complaints
  • Maintains communication with client regarding progress and project issues
  • Resolves contractual disputes between owner and contractor
  • Attends trade shows to keep up on trends in the industry
  • Serves as a member of professional trade groups
  • Engages in self-education and training in order to keep up with current industry trends and changes
  • Performs responsibilities consistent with ethical engineering standards in the company handbook
  • Writes staff reports, letters, and reports on construction activities at office or at job site if needed
  • May train and mentor Construction Manager I and II

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management with ten years of experience OR Technical school graduate with twelve years of experience
  • Experience specifically in Construction Management
  • Possession of a valid state-issued Driver's License and required auto insurance
  • Thorough knowledge of state and/or local construction and building guidelines
  • Thorough knowledge of construction practices relating to roadway reconstruction, rehabilitation, and pavement management
