Mammography Technologist Per Diem Job Description

Mass General Brigham is seeking a per diem mammography technologist to work in Boston, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in radiologic technology and experience with mammography equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mammographic imaging on patients presenting for screening and/or diagnostic service, according to department protocol.
  • Calculate and select proper technical factors; operate equipment as required; properly identify images by verify patient demographics; appropriately annotate images with lead markers denoting laterality; acquire images that meet department quality standards.
  • Ensure all images are transmitted to PACS system, and exams are completed in hospital electronic medical record. Maintain working knowledge and perform accurate data entry into hospital and department electronic medical record.
  • Provide education to patients regarding exam. Provide radiation protection to patients in accordance with ALARA principles and department policy.
  • Assist physicians in performance of invasive procedures: prepare medications such as local anesthetics and/or contrast media. Ensure supplies are available for procedure. Practice sterile technique in setting up trays and performing procedures. Label tissue samples appropriately. Perform first aid when necessary.
  • Instruct, advise and assist Radiologic Technology students in performing mammographic exams.
  • Perform duties such as transporting, transferring, immobilizing and positioning patients.
Requirements
  • Must have graduated from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts license as a Radiologic Technologist in the category of Radiography.
  • To perform mammography, the incumbent must possess a valid Massachusetts license in the category of mammography in addition to radiography.
  • Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and have at least 2 years experience as a radiologic technologist.
  • Must be knowledgeable with quality control tests that need to be performed as well as MQSA, ARC and Mass State mammography regulations.
