Job Summary

The registered nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the nursing care of each assigned patient. This includes providing direct patient care, supervising nursing staff members, anticipating patients' needs, and ensuring all physician orders are accurately transcribed and carried out in a timely manner. The nurse will also coordinate the plan of care, conduct patient teaching specific to disease entity and home management, and actively participate in assuring care continuum. Additionally, the nurse will collaborate with other nursing and ancillary services to ensure seamless communication and uninterrupted patient care. The nurse will model leadership behaviors, foster a spirit of collaboration and teamwork, and mentor peers and colleagues. The nurse will also be responsible for interpreting electronic fetal monitoring strips, assessing the mother and fetus in utero, and communicating the status to the medical provider.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a CA RN license, BLS & ACLS (AHA required), and NRP. You must also obtain Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) within 3 months of hire and Advanced Fetal Monitoring or NCC EFM certificate within the first year of hire or transfer. New Grad RNs must complete ACLS & NRP for this position within 60 days of hire. You must also have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret hospital policies and procedures, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. You must be able to write reports and procedures and document in the medical record. You must also be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from co-workers, managers, patients, physicians, family members, and the general public. You must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts, such as weights, dosages, flow rates, proportions, percentages, and volume. You must also have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. You must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. You must also have the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. You must have the ability to critically think and problem solve. You must also be able to read, write, speak English.
