About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Field Engineer - Telecommunications Specialist to join our team at TEKsystems. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual with expertise in coax splicing, electronics setup, and balancing to work on long-term projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Splice and activate telecommunications equipment, including setting up and balancing electronics to specifications.
  • Collaborate with a team to ensure job completion within scheduled timeframes.
  • Provide live plant training to new hires, monitoring their progress and maintaining high-quality results.
  • Perform daily vehicle maintenance checks, ensuring all fluids are at optimal levels, and keeping the vehicle clean and organized.
  • Safely operate bucket trucks and use them to complete construction assignments as needed, often working at heights of up to 40 feet.
  • Maintain compliance with local and federal regulations at job sites.
  • Complete production reports, mark maps, track work hours, and document 'as-built' maps for areas constructed.
  • Reconcile issued parts and materials daily to ensure accurate usage counts.
Requirements
  • Able to perform mechanical tasks such as coax splicing, reading meters, conducting tests, and troubleshooting measures to meet plant-level requirements.
  • Proficient in using computer-based programs required for electronic equipment activation and verification.
  • Capable of working in various weather conditions.
  • Comfortable working at different heights, including bucket trucks, ground level pedestals, and underground vaults.
  • Able to lift 50-100 pounds and perform fine manipulation of cable and electronic equipment.
  • Skilled in using standard trade tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, drills, strippers, crimpers, and hammers, for cable routing, connection, and installation.
  • Able to work evening, overnight, or weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams.
  • Excellent visual and aural acuity to operate various test and measurement equipment.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times.
  • Able to work with limited supervision and achieve low error rates or quality concerns.
  • Experience in training less-experienced field positions (new hires, ground hands, or less experienced splicers).
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, motor vehicle check, and drug test.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
What We Offer
  • $42-76 per hour, based on production.
  • $1500 monthly per diem.
  • $3000-$6000 quarterly production bonuses.
  • Paid travel and living expenses.
  • Roundtrip flights every quarter.
  • Long-term contract, approximately 2 years.
