Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Procurement to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods and services, ensuring compliance with all existing Procurement Policy Board rules, and collaborating with various units to manage procurement metrics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the procurement of goods and services, ensuring compliance with all existing Procurement Policy Board rules.
  • Collaborate with various units to manage procurement metrics, including developing fiscal year spending plans, analyses, and reports.
  • Supervise staff engaged in all phases of the procurement process, including coaching, training, and mentoring.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure effective and efficient procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in economics, finance, accounting, business, or public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in procurement, budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research.
  • 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative, or supervisory experience, including supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above.
Preferred Skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the procurement/contracting process and New York City Procurement Policy Board rules.
  • Strong contract management and administration skills, including negotiating contracts.
  • Working knowledge of City-specific IT applications, including FMS and Passport.
  • Knowledge of negotiation best practices, both in-person and in written format.
  • Strong leadership and change management skills.
  • Ability to build partnerships with Sr. Staff, managers, supervisors, and employees, and operate as a trusted advisor.
  • Advanced analytical and reporting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
