At CBRE, we are seeking a highly skilled Sanctions Compliance Expert to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact in the field of sanctions compliance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for advising business leaders and their teams on the processes needed to ensure successful implementation of various initiatives such as products and growth in jurisdictions related to sanctions risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Work with business segments and field compliance officers to find opportunities for risk-based sanctions policy changes.
  2. Review and evaluate transactions which have been identified as containing a potential match to a person or entity on applicable sanctions lists or to a comprehensively sanctioned country.
  3. Provide regulatory analysis under relevant economic sanctions programs.
  4. Assist with maintenance of blocking and reject reporting to applicable regulators globally.
  5. Manage the regulatory sanctions exams and reporting to the corresponding government agencies.
  6. Set strategy, review and approve sanctions-related subpoena responses, voluntary self-disclosures, license applications, and other relevant regulatory correspondence.
  7. Oversee the governance and risk management of global sanctions lists.
  8. Design, develop, deliver, and maintain best-in-class sanctions compliance practices, providing a mechanism for identifying key sanctions risks and how the mitigation of those risks would be monitored and measured through a control framework.
  9. Identify, manage, and call out significant sanctions risks to the VP of AML and Sanctions, and support remedial actions where appropriate.
  10. Ensure that reviews are conducted consistently across each entity on a regular basis to ensure that the controls identified are operating effectively.
  11. Provide advice to the businesses on an ongoing basis on new business initiatives, new products, business acquisitions, and client-related matters with respect to applicability of policies, resolution of potential red flags or other client/transaction-related sanctions critical issues.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree preferred with 8-10 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
  2. Experience creating functional and organizational processes to manage policies and procedures and remediation.
  3. Experience in building and maintaining sanctions compliance programs.
  4. Extensive knowledge of and expertise in sanctions regulations, risks, and typologies.
  5. Experience producing formal written communications for OFAC as well as UK and EU regulators.
  6. Experience working with OFAC, the Department of the Treasury, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation, and the European External Action Service.
  7. Awareness of regulatory requirements including local and US laws, international and industry standards.
  8. Highly motivated, strong attention to detail, team-oriented, organized.
  9. Demonstrated ability to assess complex issues through root cause analysis and other analytical techniques; structure potential solutions; drive to resolution with senior team members.
  10. Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views.
  11. Strong presentation and relationship management skills are essential.

Earnings: The estimated annual salary range for this position is $110,000-$125,000. This amount may vary based on individual qualifications and experience.
