Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement school health policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate and complete health records
• Plan and implement appropriate health screenings as indicated by board policy
• Monitor specific health conditions that can impact learning and develop Individual Health Plans to support students
• Instruct staff on plan of care and health needs of students
• Monitor for outbreaks of infectious and communicable diseases and work with public health agencies as necessary
• Provide emergency care when needed and make home visits as required
• Administer and record the administration of medication
• Consult with administration, parents, and school personnel to keep the school informed about pertinent health problems and needs of students
• Provide immunization and health information to parents at kindergarten registration
• Collaborate with local agencies and healthcare providers to provide food and clothing to families in need
• Delegate, train, and supervise the administration of health services by non-licensed personnel as appropriate
• Work in collaboration with students' physicians to provide medical services in the school environment

Requirements:

• Registered nurse with valid Iowa licensure
• Current CPR certification
• Mandatory Reporter Certification
