About the Opportunity:

Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG) is seeking a skilled Sales Consultant to join their team in New Jersey. This role will focus on driving sales growth, expanding customer relationships, and promoting the company's products and services.

Job Summary:

This position involves executing and achieving a sales plan assigned by SSMG, maximizing sales profitability, growth, and account penetration within an assigned territory. The successful candidate will promote, sell, and secure orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-driven approach.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory to generate new business opportunities for SSMG's products and services.
  • Maintain regular communication and in-person visits with existing and prospective customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Take customer orders while keeping SSMG's goals in mind, focusing on sales and gross profit maximization.
  • Participate in order input and review processes to ensure accurate and timely execution of customer requests.
  • React promptly to customer problems and needs to build trust and loyalty.
  • Analyze daily/weekly sales and margin reports to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with product applications, market conditions, trends, and competitor activities to make informed decisions and provide valuable insights to customers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma required; 4-year degree in culinary arts, business, marketing, agriculture/animal science, or related studies preferred.
  • 2 years of prior food service and/or sales experience strongly preferred, demonstrating a deep understanding of the meat and seafood category or restaurant/culinary background.
  • Excellent consultative sales skills with a strong ability to build rapport with customers and stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and self-motivation with minimal supervision required.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook essential.

Salary Information:

The estimated annual salary for this position ranges from $46,000 to $86,300, depending on experience and performance. Compensation may also include bonuses and benefits as part of the overall compensation package.
