Job Title: Parent Mentor

Job Summary:

Morrison Child and Family Services is seeking a Parent Mentor to join our team. As a Parent Mentor, you will provide system navigation and support to parents involved with the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS). You will develop trusting relationships with parents, provide regular contact and support, and link them with culturally responsive treatment services and community resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a trusting relationship with parents and provide regular contact and support
  • Support parents in developing skills to parent in recovery and build social supports
  • Link parents with culturally responsive treatment services and community resources
  • Encourage parents to advocate for their needs
  • Provide community-based mentoring services, including transporting parents and families

Requirements:

  • Personal experience and knowledge of substance use disorder
  • Minimum 2 years in active recovery from using alcohol and other drugs
  • Personal experience of a ODHS Child Welfare case, closed for a minimum 1 year required
  • High School Diploma or GED or high school level writing and reading skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience/knowledge of multiple pathways to recovery
  • Mentored by Recovery Mentor/peer support
  • Volunteer and service in community
  • Shared lived experience with Spanish speaking families and families of color
  • Bilingual in English and another language
