About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and versatile Maintenance Worker to join our team at Champaign Unit 4 Schools. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our 18 facilities, including elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and the Novak Academy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs, replacements, and upgrades to facilities and equipment
  • Operate and maintain grounds service equipment, including mowers, tractors, and other machinery
  • Assist with snow removal and emergency storm damage clean-up
  • Perform general landscaping and groundskeeping tasks, including shrub, grass, and tree care
  • Assist with athletic fields maintenance, including painting and turf care
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or compensating experience
  • Good human relations and communication skills
  • Valid Illinois Class C driver's license
  • Illinois Department of Agriculture Pesticide Operator license
  • Ability to use standard hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills
  • General familiarity with electric, plumbing, and carpentry, as well as irrigation systems programming and service
