Job Summary:

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly skilled Police Sergeant to join our team. As a key member of our public safety staff, you will be responsible for overseeing police operations and ensuring the safety and security of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exercising supervisory responsibility of police officers and other staff assigned
  • Addressing personnel issues under University guidelines and applying sound leadership skills
  • Working with a diverse University population to enforce federal, state and local laws
  • Applying comprehensive knowledge of University policy and Department of Criminal Justice Service law enforcement certification
  • Maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, and staff

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated progressive law enforcement experience and comprehensive knowledge of University policy
  • Department of Criminal Justice Service law enforcement certification (or ability to obtain certification if out of state applicant)
  • Ability to use independent judgment and exercise considerable restraint under stressful situations
