Job Summary:

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Inspector to join our Infrastructure Design and Construction Division. As a Construction Inspector, you will be responsible for ensuring that construction projects are completed in accordance with contract plans, specifications, and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct construction inspections to ensure compliance with contract plans and specifications.
  • Verify that quality assurance/quality control programs are enforced.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation and controls.
  • Conduct planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling, and field staff meetings.
  • Review plans, specifications, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and contract closeout records.
  • Resolve disputes and problems and respond to complaints from the public.
  • Verify and prepare quality assurance reports and quantity and progress estimates.
  • Report safety and traffic hazards, defective work, and housekeeping issues to the contractor.

Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of verifiable full-time experience in construction inspection work.
  • A baccalaureate degree from an engineering or architecture program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  • Two (2) years of verifiable full-time experience in construction at the Superintendent/General Foreman level.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Projects).
  • Possession of 24 Hours HAZWOPER, 30 Hours OSHA, and Construction Management-In-Training Certifications.
  • Experience in research techniques and report writing.

Working Conditions:

The nature of work may be required to work under extreme weather conditions, climb ladders, walk on uneven surfaces, and/or stand for a long duration.

Additional Information:

Applicants must possess a valid State of California driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit them from legally performing the essential functions and duties of the role.
