Job Summary

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing and leading the Office of Human Resources (OHR) at Davita Inc. This role involves aligning human resource and business strategy to drive organizational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategy & Leadership: Aligns human resource and business strategy in consultation with senior leaders, the OHR Management Team, and the OHR Advisory Group.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Develops and sustains ongoing working relationships and collaborates effectively with colleagues across the organization and with constituents outside of the organization.
  • Policy & Compliance: Leads and directs the development and consistent implementation of human resources policies and practices throughout the organization.
  • Financial Management: Oversees OHR budgets and ensures budget parameters are met.
  • Staff Management: Provides leadership and mentors employees, oversees a team of HR Functional Area Directors and their staffs, and trains and develops employees to successfully perform current responsibilities.
  • Assessment & Research: Consults on human resource functional service responsibilities when reviewed by internal and external functional audits.
  • Vendor Oversight: Leads and directs relationships with third-party vendors, consultants, brokers, actuaries, and trustees in administering the organization's human resource programs.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws influencing human resource functions.
  • Experience implementing the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an organization's policies and processes related to staff, products, and services.
  • Ability to manage and maintain privileged, sensitive, and confidential information and matters appropriately.
  • Ability to operate independently and exercise significant latitude for independent judgment, discretion, and action, while also operating as a member of a team.
  • Entrepreneurial orientation and thought leadership to recognize future trends and new opportunities.
  • Transparent approach and political savvy to build and sustain diverse relationships with many constituencies, both internal and external.
  • Proven business acumen, a results-oriented approach, and track record of delivering results in a mission-driven organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to interact credibly and diplomatically within all levels of the organization and in the outside community.
  • Effective at attracting, developing, and motivating talented staff, communicating guiding goals, holding people accountable, and providing useful feedback.
  • Adept problem solver; great at gleaning meaning from available data.
Education, Experience, Preferences
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent knowledge.
  • Fifteen years of progressive experience in human resource management, with at least ten years supervisory experience in managing primary human resource functions.
  • Full-cycle human resource information systems experience (e.g., Workday) preferred.
