Kidney Transplant Program Overview

The Atrium Health Transplant Center, part of the Carolinas Medical Center, is one of North Carolina's most active transplant centers. The Metrolina Nephrology transplant team, working closely with the Atrium team, has been actively involved in the kidney-pancreas program since its inception in 1970.

This program operates a hospital-based organ procurement program, reducing average waiting times for organ recipients. With a team of five transplant nephrologists, Metrolina provides ongoing care to nearly 2,000 kidney transplant patients, serving patients from across the region.

About the Role

We are seeking a fellowship-trained Transplant Nephrologist to join our growing team. As a key member of our transplant program, you will be responsible for providing specialized medical care to patients with kidney disease who require a kidney transplant.

Your day-to-day tasks will include evaluating patients, assessing organ offers, coordinating with transplant surgeons and other healthcare professionals, managing post-transplant care, and ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • A medical degree and completion of residency in Internal Medicine or Nephrology
  • Fellowship training in Transplant Nephrology
  • Board certification or eligibility in Nephrology and Transplant Nephrology
  • Experience in managing kidney transplant patients, including pre- and post-transplant care
  • Strong knowledge of current evidence-based practices in Transplant Nephrology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based healthcare environment
  • Dedication to providing compassionate and patient-centered care

We offer a competitive salary range of $350,000 to $450,000 per year, depending on experience, along with benefits that include comprehensive health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
