The Research Team at Amazon Robotics is seeking a passionate Applied Scientist to lead industrial research, innovation, and technology transfer, focusing on ML Applications.

We apply cutting-edge advancements in robotics, software development, Big Data, ML, and AI to solve real-world challenges. Our team operates hundreds of buildings with hundreds of thousands of robots performing sophisticated missions. We continuously explore new opportunities to extend our product lines into new areas.

Data is at the heart of our innovation. This role will participate in creating the ML and AI roadmap, leading science initiatives, and shipping ML products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Think big and ideate with Data Science teams and stakeholders to co-create the ML roadmap.

2. Collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to identify, disambiguate, and define key problems.

3. Independently innovate, create, and iterate ML solutions for business problems, using techniques like Computer Vision, Deep Learning, Causal Inference, etc.

4. Collaborate with Science, Tech, Ops, and Business leaders to ship and iterate ML products.

5. Promote best practices and mentor junior team members on problem-solving and communication.

A Day in the Life:

You will co-create the ML/AI roadmap, help the team identify business opportunities, prototype and iterate ML/AI solutions, drive communication with stakeholders, and mentor junior team members.

About the Team:

You will join a diverse research/science team with scientists from various backgrounds, including planning/scheduling, grasping/manipulation, machine learning, statistical analysis, and operations research. We develop novel algorithms and machine learning models and apply them to real-world robotic warehouses.

We operate hundreds of buildings with hundreds of thousands of robots performing sophisticated missions. Our team also serves as a hub to foster innovation and support scientists across Amazon Robotics.
