Job Title: Cook

Job Summary: Family Services Association is seeking a skilled Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing meals for our nutrition sites, working with site volunteers, and managing program documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare congregate and home-delivered meals according to approved menus.
  2. Read menus, estimate needs, and ensure adequate supplies are available.
  3. Obtain supplies, prepare, cook, and serve meals in accordance with nutritional standards.
  4. Assist with weekly inventory and supply ordering.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of site kitchen and/or congregate dining area.
  6. Maintain nutrition records according to Agency and program requirements.
  7. Supervise and train site FSA employees.
  8. Train, supervise, and document volunteer site participation.
  9. Prepare written performance evaluations of supervised employees.
  10. Document performance deficiencies and counsel staff.
  11. Assist in the Agency CQI process to improve department success.
  12. Maintain all record keeping and reports required by program and funding source.
  13. Punctual and regular attendance.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • One (1) year cooking experience in the food service industry
  • Good communication skills (written & oral)
  • Background Fingerprint Clearance
  • Drug Test Clearance
  • Physical Exam and Lift Test clearance
  • Ability to read and write English and to communicate at the required level.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current Food Handlers Permit required
  • CA Driver's License and Proof of Automobile Insurance
  • Current and Clean DMV Print Out report

Physical & Mental Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds at least a distance of 10 feet
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner
  • Ability to work with a diverse client population and Agency workforce in a professional and respectful manner.

Location of Work: Sites may vary based on need. Availability to work on weekends as needed.
