Akumin is seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team as a PET/CT Technologist Trainee.

The successful candidate will learn the safety, customer service skills, documentation, and operation of PET/CT through on-the-job training under the direction of a registered technologist.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pre-screening of all personnel before entering the magnet room to ensure their safety.
  • Scan and document patients under the direction of a registered technologist to meet all customer and Akumin requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation for patient files to ensure all customer, Akumin policy, and Joint Commission requirements are met.
  • Perform other job duties as needed.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Certified by ARRT, NMTCB, or ARDMS required.
  • State issued Radiologic Technologist License, if applicable required.
  • CPR certification required.
  • Valid state driver's license, if applicable required.
  • Successful completion of a Radiology School required.
  • Ability to work at several locations.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
  • Local travel may be required.
  • The COVID-19 vaccination is/may be a condition of employment.

Physical Requirements:

The employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions during transport of patients if working on a mobile unit, a strong magnetic field, and blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

  • More than 50% of the time:
  • Sit, stand, walk.
  • Repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs.
  • See, speak, and hear to be able to communicate with patients.
  • Less than 50% of the time:
  • Stoop, kneel, or crawl.
  • Climb and balance.
  • Carry and lift (ability to move non-ambulatory patients from a sitting or lying position for transfer or to exam).
