Master Tug Captain

This is a senior-level position responsible for the safe transportation of barges and vessels across the US East Coast. As Master Tug Captain, you will oversee crew performance, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain equipment. If you have 5+ years of experience towing barges as Master, Coastwise on the US East Coast, Gulf of Mexico, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities- Safety Management: Oversee safety of vessel, supervise crew in performance of drills, and ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Company policies and regulations.
- Tug Operations: Stand wheelhouse watches underway, direct crew in tug operations, and perform administrative and supervisory functions.
- Crew Management: Direct, fairly evaluate, and correct performance of subordinates, assign work projects for crew, and conduct inspections and monitor tug/barge maintenance activities.
- Maintenance: Ensure all equipment is well-maintained, prepare written reports per company and regulatory agency directives, and check and approve all requisitions and work orders.
- Language Skills: Must be able to read, speak, and understand English over radiotelephone and/or radio.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid TWIC, valid first aid certificate, valid CPR training, valid HAZWOPER certificate or complete a 24-hour training course within 30 days from date of hire, valid GMDSS operator endorsement, and valid states drivers license.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience towing barges as Master, Coastwise on the US East Coast, Gulf of Mexico.
- Coast Guard License: Valid Coast Guard license, minimum Master 200 GT near Coastal, with a radar observer endorsement, and valid Master of Towing near Coastal endorsement.
