Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor
Reports To: Director of Maintenance / Project Manager

Status: Exempt + Overtime

Direct Reports: Maintenance personnel

Job Summary:

Responsible for maintenance and repair of all plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure production equipment is maintained and repaired to meet company standards and minimize downtime.
  • Hire, train, develop, and manage maintenance department employees.
  • Assist in management of Capital Projects.
  • Assess, develop, and prioritize project scope.
  • Assign department personnel accordingly.
  • Purchase parts and supplies for maintenance department.
  • Coordinate with production supervisors on repair and maintenance work scheduling.
  • Maintain minimum spare parts inventory.
  • Work closely with Plant Scheduler in developing and scheduling preventative maintenance.
  • May assist in repair and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain clean and organized work area promoting food safety, quality, personal safety, and efficiency.

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Employee may occasionally be exposed to hot or cold temperatures, and loud noise. Environment may occasionally be moist or wet, and chemicals may be used. Occasional lifting and carrying of materials up to 40 pounds is required. Employee must stand, use hands and fingers, and occasionally walk, reach, climb, or balance.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering field.
  • 5-7 years supervisory experience in similar environment managing multi-craft maintenance personnel.
  • Basic PC skills with spreadsheet and word-processing software preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and programming repairs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends.

Estimated Salary Range:

$65,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience.
