Job Description

The Director of Quality and Safety will lead quality and safety efforts in both inpatient and ambulatory settings for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Boston Medical Center. This role will direct quality and safety initiatives, collaborate with department leaders, and oversee the quality and safety project team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Quality Initiatives: Create specific quality initiatives and safety strategies that align with the department's mission and goals.
  • Lead Quality and Safety Efforts: Direct quality and safety efforts in inpatient and ambulatory settings, including developing and implementing quality improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with Department Leaders: Work with department leaders to optimize and oversee quality and safety activities, including collaborating with the Vice Chairs of Clinical Operations, DEI, and Research.
  • Provide Leadership and Strategic Direction: Provide leadership and strategic direction to the quality and safety project team, including overseeing the work of the quality specialist and clinical data analyst.
  • Represent the Department: Represent the department at hospital meetings and collaborate with the Quality and Patient Safety department to advance quality and equity work.
Program Implementation Areas
  • Develop and Implement Quality and Safety Strategic Plan: Assist the Chair in developing and implementing the quality and safety strategic plan for the department.
  • Improve Obstetric Outcomes: Lead initiatives to improve obstetric outcomes, including reducing hemorrhage, breastfeeding, and SMM reduction.
  • Improve Gynecologic Outcomes: Lead initiatives to improve gynecologic outcomes, including reducing postoperative infections and length of stay.
  • Improve Quality Outcomes in Ambulatory Settings: Lead initiatives to improve quality outcomes in the department's outpatient spaces.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD/DO) or Equivalent Degree: Possess a doctor of medicine (MD/DO) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certified in OB/GYN: Be board certified in OB/GYN.
  • Minimum of 5 Years of Quality and Safety-Related Experience: Have a minimum of 5 years of quality and safety-related experience or adjacent work.
  • Eligible for Unrestricted Medical Licensure in Massachusetts: Be eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Massachusetts.
