Job Summary

The Learning Support Specialist 2 (LSS2) is a professional tutor responsible for providing academic support to students in a shared tutoring space. The LSS2 will work with students one-on-one or in small groups to help them achieve a deeper understanding of the subject matter. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to work with multiple students, and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supplement students' understanding of course material through one-on-one and group tutoring sessions.
  • Help students develop and apply appropriate learning and study skills.
  • Maintain documentation of all tutoring sessions and generate reports for the department.
  • Provide course instructors with communication and information to facilitate student learning.
  • Attend tutor training sessions and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter and instructional methodologies.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • One year of teaching or tutoring experience in an educational environment.
  • Teaching experience in Speech or Public Speaking.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at Columbus State Community College.
