**Overview**

Houston Methodist is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as a Lead RN Float Pool Specialist. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and contribute to the delivery of high-quality care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

 

Job Summary:

The Lead RN Float Pool Specialist will be responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients across various departments, schedules, and shifts. As a lead role, you will oversee the coordination of patient care, manage staff assignments, and ensure seamless transitions between units.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Care:
    • Conduct thorough assessments, develop individualized plans of care, and implement evidence-based interventions to promote optimal patient outcomes.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care, resolve conflicts, and improve communication.
  • Leadership:
    • Supervise and mentor staff, providing guidance on best practices, policies, and procedures.
    • Manage staffing levels, allocate resources effectively, and make data-driven decisions to optimize patient flow and staff productivity.
  • Education and Training:
    • Design and implement educational programs to enhance staff knowledge, skills, and confidence.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, vendors, and educational institutions to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
  • Quality and Safety:
    • Monitor and report adverse events, near misses, and quality issues to ensure prompt resolution and prevent recurrence.
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilizing data-driven insights to drive process changes and improvements.

 

Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Texas State Licensure or Compact State Licensure within 60 days of hire.
    • BLS certification (AHA).
  • Experience:
    • Minimum two years of registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Skills/Knowledge:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Able to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment.
