About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated NICU Nurse Specialist to join our team at Christus Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional nursing care to critically ill newborns and their families.

Job Summary

The NICU Nurse Specialist will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for each patient. This includes performing routine assessments, documenting patient information, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Critical Care Nursing:
    • Assess and manage critically ill newborns in the NICU environment
    • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure informed decision-making
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and achieve optimal outcomes
  • Patient Education and Support:
    • Provide education and support to patients and families regarding care and treatment options
    • Encourage patient engagement and empowerment throughout the care process
  • Quality Improvement and Patient Safety:
    • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and satisfaction
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and collaborate with teams to implement changes
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty (NICU)
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher preferred
  • Current STABLE certification within 90 days of hire (new graduates and experienced nurses new to the specialty)
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and outcomes
