We are seeking a skilled Housing Assistant to join our team in New York City, NY. As a key member of our housing management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our residential facilities.

Job Description

The Housing Assistant will be responsible for assisting in the resolution of tenancy problems, responding to complaints, collecting rent and rent arrears. This includes interviewing residents, investigating and verifying information obtained, and informing tenants of Housing Authority rules, regulations, and requirements.

You will also perform income and employment verifications for rent determination, conduct field visits for rent collection/home visits regarding housekeeping concerns/window guards/air condition surveys, and complete annual/interim reviews.

This position requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as proficiency in computer applications. The ideal candidate will have experience working in housing management or a related field.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; or
  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent, approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in housing management;
  • Experience with computers, data entry, and application use;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
