Job Summary

Raytheon Technologies is seeking a highly skilled Principal Test Development Engineer to join our Sensor Test Solutions (STS) department within Test Equipment Engineering (TEE). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating advanced test platforms and architectures for various programs within Raytheon.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with internal and external partners to design and deploy complex factory test systems
  • Lead the development of test hardware, software, and/or firmware through its development cycle, from requirements definition through deployment at manufacturing or customer facilities
  • Collaborate with Hardware Design and Operations teams to identify capability and capacity needs for manufacturing test and ensure smooth deployment to manufacturing facilities
  • Actively identify test readiness issues and optimizations through the development lifecycle
  • Lead medium-to-large sized teams to meet project budget, schedule, and performance commitments
  • Provide technical leadership to employees in support of their specific work assignments
  • Engage in personal technical growth and encourage technical growth in peers and junior engineers
  • Prepare and clearly present your team's work product to Functional and Program Leadership
  • Understand and report financial & earned value status for monthly reporting cycle
  • Proactively manage and mitigate Risks and Opportunities
  • Support Manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with design engineering teams
  • Contribute to cost, schedule, and technical solutions for bid and proposal development
Requirements

Typically requires a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience. Experience in an engineering design and development environment with 4+ years direct experience with Test Equipment design and development tasks. The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with National Instruments' TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW. Digital, and/or Analog, and/or RF, and/or power supply test hardware design experience. Use of Commercial Test and Measurement Equipment. VXI/VME/MXI/PXI/CompactPCI Application Development. CMMI and 6 Sigma Experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Good decision-making and problem-solving skills. Experience with VHDL a plus. Software applications / programming skills a plus.

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
