Audiologist Position

We are seeking an Audiologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Audiology (AUD) degree from an audiology program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) or Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
The Audiologist will be responsible for assessing and treating auditory and balance disorders in patients. This will include conducting behavioral, electroacoustic, or electrophysiologic tests, determining the appropriateness of amplification devices and systems, and counseling patients and family members regarding management of hearing/communication/vestibular disorders.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals in a polite and professional manner. They will also have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and provide treatment interventions for patients with auditory and balance disorders
- Determine the appropriateness of amplification devices and systems for patients
- Counsel patients and family members regarding management of hearing/communication/vestibular disorders
- Interact with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals in a polite and professional manner
- Work independently and as part of a team to provide high-quality patient care
Requirements:
- Doctor of Audiology (AUD) degree from an audiology program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) or Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
- Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice audiology at the doctoral level in a United States state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience:
- Working Audiologist with 2 plus years experience
Physical Requirements:
The work requires some physical exertion such as prolonged periods of sitting, bending, reaching, crouching, stooping, stretching, and lifting moderately heavy items. Must be able to push a patient in a wheelchair and assist in transferring from wheelchair to exam chair.
