Emergency Department Nurse Specialist

**Job Overview:**
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse II Adult Emergency Department to join our team at Albany Medical Center. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a unique blend of clinical expertise, leadership skills, and compassion.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in our Level I Trauma Center, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent outcomes. This includes assessing patients, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' physical and emotional needs, and develop effective care plans to address these needs.
- Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, and documenting treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients, ensuring that each patient receives comprehensive and coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions, treatments, and outcomes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and contributing to the development of solutions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current NYS Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably in a large academic, Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues and patients from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques, with the ability to apply this knowledge in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.

Our Emergency Department features 45 rooms, including 5 barco-lounger spaces for lower acuity patients, and is divided into five major zones: Major trauma and critical care, Resuscitation and minor care, Pediatrics, Acute care, and Rapid Care. We offer a dedicated radiology suite, including 2 CTs, a DECONTAMINATION suite with a separate entrance, as well as a satellite lab.
