Quality Assurance Specialist for Naval Supply Systems Command

Job Summary
Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to join their team. As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of all products handled, as well as the inspection of contractor-operated equipment, including safety factors specified in existing Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) guidelines mandated by 29 CFR 1910 safety regulations and contractual clauses.
Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assurance surveillance programs for all products.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections of all facilities and equipment, both contractor-owned and operated, as well as government-owned and contractor-operated.
- Ensure contractor compliance with quality surveillance provisions of the contract performance work statement for Aircraft/Ground Fuel Services and Cryogenic Storage and Distribution Contract.
- Monitor contractor petroleum, oils, and lubricants (POL) operations and maintenance related to tanks, tank systems, piping, filters, discharge points, wastewater processing, and pumping facilities for compliance with applicable environmental regulations.
- Inspect loading and unloading of petroleum products and bulk fuel received, transferred, stored, or issued by tank truck or pipeline.
- Conduct surveillances over military and contractor refueling operations to ensure that personnel are properly trained and that equipment is maintained in safe condition.
- Act as a specialist for ensuring that all environmental compliance practices, issues, mandates, policy directives, and permits are current and up-to-date.
- Provide required information upon request to federal, state, and local agencies.
- Coordinate procedural recommendations involving safety aspects with the station safety office.
Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as environmental science or quality assurance, is required. Relevant work experience in quality assurance, environmental compliance, or a related field is also required. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate effectively with contractors and government personnel, and have a strong understanding of safety regulations and environmental compliance practices.
Work Environment
This position will be working at various over-the-horizon (OTH) locations of the Naval Supply Systems Command. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the quality of all products handled, as well as the inspection of contractor-operated equipment, including safety factors specified in existing Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA) guidelines mandated by 29 CFR 1910 safety regulations and contractual clauses.
